Love was in the air and in Victory Lane in Talladega. Jesse Love got redemption for coming up short at Atlanta earlier this year and managed to save enough fuel to survive a couple overtime restarts (and then some) and held off the field to get his first career win.

Most Recent Winner At Dover

Ryan Truex finally got his first career win last Spring at his Dover Motor Speedway home track.

Names To Watch

Ryan Truex: The defending winner of this race and younger brother of Cup Series Champion of Martin Truex Jr will look to defend his crown this weekend at his home track.

Carson Kvapil: The son of 2003 Craftsman Truck Series Champion Travis Kvapil, Carson Kvapil returns to the JR Motorsports #88 this weekend at Dover, Kvapil made his series debut at Martinsville earlier this month and finished a remarkably impressive 4th place.

Kaden Honeycutt: If I am bringing up Carson Kvapil, I might as well also bring up one of his closest competitors in the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car division, Kaden Honeycutt. Honeycutt has shown promise, making sporadic starts across the various ranks of NASCAR over the last couple of years, but has failed to find much consistency. Honeycutt will get to race alongside his old foe yet again and try to take advantage of an opportunity to show why he should get just as much attention as Kvapil.

My Pick To Win: I’m taking Ryan Truex to go back-to-back at his home track in Dover, Delaware, Truex has shown pace in his limited starts this season driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, but I think he will step it up a notch this weekend to prove that last season wasn’t a fluke.

Corey Lajoie finished last week’s race at Talladega propped up against the wall and rode it all the way across the finish line before rolling over, and somehow, that is not the biggest story to come out of last weekend’s race. Michael Jordan, member of the National Basketball Hall of Fame and co-owner of 23XI Racing alongside Denny Hamlin, finally got to see one of his cars go to victory lane in person when Tyler Reddick managed to avoid a wildly spinning Michael McDowell and took advantage of an impeded Brad Keselowski to win this past Sunday. The highlight of the day (aside from LaJoie’s sideways escapade to the finish line) was undoubtedly the incredible moment between Michael Jordan and Tyler Reddick’s son, Beau. Jordan picked up the young Reddick and asked him, “Are we gonna celebrate” to which Beau joyfully responded, ”Yeah.” A moment that will be replayed for years to come, an authentic feel-good moment that was seen by many, not only by NASCAR fans but many people outside of the immediate reach of the sport. The moment was featured on ESPN’s ‘SportsCenter’ and their early evening show ‘Pardon The Interruption,’ among others. It was yet another seemingly monumental moment in the recent history of the sport, showcasing what the sport has to offer, and that NASCAR, despite what trolls on Twitter/X and Facebook want you to think, is doing quite well right now. It is very refreshing to see, but I digress.

Most Recent Winner At Dover

Martin Truex Jr. completed the Truex family sweep at Dover last Spring, winning a rain-delayed Monday race.

Names To Watch

Corey Heim: After a vicious, head-on crash last week at Talladega sidelined Erik Jones for an indefinite amount of time with a Spinal Fracture. 21-year-old Craftsman Truck Series driver Corey Heim will take over the #43 Toyota Camry for Legacy Motor Club. Heim is widely considered one of, if not the top prospect in the sport at the moment. All eyes will be on Heim this weekend at one of NASCAR’s most challenging tracks.

Jimmie Johnson: Speaking of Legacy Motor Club, the team’s co-owner, Jimmie Johnson, is back again, driving the #84 Toyota Camry this weekend at a track he simply dominated. Johnson collected 11 mini statues of Miles the Monster (trophies), including his final win in 2017.

My Pick To Win: Ross Chastain has been within striking distance in this race in each of the last two years and I think he gets the job done this year.
