Evaluating the end of the 23XI Racing Season

The ROVAL at Charlotte marked the end of the line for the 23XI Racing team’s hopes of a Championship. Both Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace failed to advance to the Round of 8, causing heartbreak for both drivers. Bubba Wallace came into the 2025 Cup Series Playoff with a win, Tyler Reddick on points, and their rookie teammate Riley Herbst deep in the points standings without a shot.

Driver #1 – Bubba Wallace

Bubba Wallace came into the Playoffs this year as the lead driver of the 23XI stable, a very popular win at the Brickyard, and eight Playoff Points brought him in as a Top-10 seed. Bubba would go through the Round of 16, earning tons of points and another Playoff Point in one of the strongest performances of the round. But the Round of 12 was not kind to the driver of the iconic No. 23 car, with New Hampshire biting the drivers of both the 23 & 45. Wallace only scored 11 points on the day, putting him in such a massive deficit that even a 5th-place finish and some stage points at Kansas, along with a respectable Top 15 at the Roval, couldn’t save him.

Driver #2 – Tyler Reddick

Tyler has had an uncharacteristic season in the No. 45 Camry for 23XI. He is winless so far and currently only 10 points above his teammate in the 23. Tyler’s season has been great in terms of overall points earned; however, with only two stage wins to his credit all season, that’s why he sits below his teammate here. Reddick’s Round of 16 was nothing special; he came into the Round of 12 as the last seed, -28 from the leader. But what killed his playoffs wasn’t necessarily his Playoff performance, but rather, his regular-season performance and lack of Playoff Points earned.

Driver #3 – Riley Herbst

Riley Herbst’s rookie season has been nothing to write home about. Herbst sits 35th out of 36 full-time cars with only 1 top-15 finish at Texas. Without question, the bottom guy at 23XI, Herbst showed promise at superspeedways while running part-time for Rick Ware Racing in past seasons, but this year, he has been outperformed by even his part-time teammate Corey Heim in his limited starts this season. But he did have the save of the decade at the Daytona 500 this year.
