The rumor has been swirling for some time surrounding horsepower for the Cup Series starting in 2026, and guess what, guys? We got it!
Today, NASCAR has confirmed that they will be increasing horsepower at select tracks for the 2026 season. Currently, the NASCAR Cup Series cars produce 670 horsepower on most tracks, but 510 at superspeedways. That all changes in February. Starting at the Clash at Bowman Gray, NASCAR’s Next Gen car will produce a target of 750 horsepower at all ovals under 1.5 miles and road courses. Super speedways and tracks of 1.5 miles or more will maintain their current power.
That means that you will see 750hp at Darlington, COTA, Watkins Glen, Gateway, New Hampshire, ROVAL, Richmond, Iowa, Phoenix, Bowman Gray, Bristol, Martinsville, Dover, Sonoma, North Wilkesboro, San Diego, and Nashville.
