NASCAR Cup Series Playoff Standings: Watkins Glen

With Chris Buescher missing the 2024 Cup Series Playoffs, his win makes no difference to the Playoffs exiting the Glen. However, some drivers had good and bad days of course.

Good Days

  • Daniel Suarez – Despite bringing out a caution by getting stuck in a sand trap, Suarez finished the race with some stage points and a top 15 finish. His big benefit would be the 8 Playoff drivers who finished outside of the top 20. He leaves +36 after starting the race +22
  • Chase Briscoe – Most fans thought of Briscoe as a sure thing for a Round of 16 elimination, especially after his early exit at Atlanta and coming to New York with -21. With a P. 6 and Stage Points at Watkins Glen, Briscoe leaves +6

Bad Days

  • Denny Hamlin – Denny’s day went bad almost immediately as on lap 1, he was caught up in the first caution of the day. He was mixed up once again later in the race after contact with fellow playoff driver Brad Keselowski. Denny came into the Glen, a race he typically performs well at, +2 but leaves -6
  • Ryan Blaney – Blaney entered the Glen as the points leader being +45, but along with Hamlin was caught up in that lap 1 incident. Unlike Hamlin, his day ended right then and there. He leaves only +29
