Vanthoor Delivers BMW Rolex 24 Pole

On a cold and windy Thursday afternoon, Dries Vanthoor put his #25 BMW M Hybrid V8 in overall pole position with a blistering lap time of 1:33.895. BMW Team RLL enter year three of competition with the M Hybrid V8, and was the last of the 2023-entered GTP cars to achieve on-track success.

While the #24 team celebrates a pole position, the sister #25 car suffered a mechanical failure during the session and will have to start in the back of the GTP grid.

Starting on the front row, Nick Yelloly put the #93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb-Agajanian ARX-06 in second place, qualifying just under three tenths slower than pole position, clocking in a time of 1:34.186.

Defending overall winner Felipe Nasr placed the #7 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 third on the starting grid with a lap time of 1:34.280.

Daniel Goldburg qualified the #22 United Autosports USA Oreca 07 on pole position in the LMP2 class with a lap time of 1:38.676. Ben Keating qualified the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports second, and Nick Boulle of the #2 United Autosports USA car in third.

In GTD Pro, Ford drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Frederic Vervisch led the way with the #64 Ford Mustang GT3 leading the way in a 1-2 qualifying effort. “Rocky” clocked a time of 1:45.523, leading the Ford effort. Daniel Harper clocked in third in his #48 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 Evo.

In GTD, Elliott Skeer dominated the session,n putting the #120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3R on pole position with a blistering lap time of 1:46.634. Philip Ellis qualified second in the #57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, and Trent Hindman placed third in the #45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
