High Limit at Lernerville, Larson struggles, Duncan solid in one-off

Eight days ago, it was Cole Macedo in victory lane, celebrating his first victory in the High Limit Racing series at Fremont Speedway. On Tuesday night, it was Carson, the older brother, celebrating his first victory of the series at Lernerville Speedway in the Don Martin Memorial. The win was dominating in every sense of the word. Macedo took the lead from Tanner Thorson on the first lap and never really had anyone to contend with after that. Thorson would rebound and win an entertaining battle with Sye Lynch in the closing laps to come home 2nd.

Larson Spins, Exits Early

Kyle Larson looked more like the plagued Larson of recent than the one who just won $100k last week in Eldora. He was 5th in hot laps, but qualified 9th in his group and ran 3rd in his heat race. He had made his way from the 13th starting position into 9th but was involved in an accident with Brenham Crouch on lap 8. Larson never recovered afterwards and ultimately finished 21st after exiting the racetrack with 8 laps to go.

Duncan Fills in for Courtney

Ohio standout Cole Duncan filled in for the injured Tyler Courtney in a one-off event before Gio Scelzi takes over the 7BC for the remainder of 2025. Duncan started and finished 11th in the A main after going 6th fastest in hot laps. Overall, not a bad run for what I believe to be only his 2nd start at Lernerville and with a new team to boot.

Looking Forward

The series doesn’t race again until August 15th at Thunderbowl Raceway. Hopefully, that window is enough time for Brad Sweet and Aaron Reutzel to mend and get back on track.
