The Craftsman Truck Series wraps up the Round of 8 this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. There is plenty to keep an eye this weekend, a tight battle at the cut line, a virtual must-win situation from an unexpected source, and a young rookie trying to stake his claim on a Championship opportunity.

Now regarding the points situation, Corey Heim (1st) has already locked up his spot in the Championship 4 with a win about a month ago at Bristol. The real eye-catcher though, is the cut line batttle. Nick Sanchez (4th) is up just 3 points on Grant Enfinger (5th) with Ben Rhodes (6th) only 5 points out of the Championship 4. Surprisingly, Ty Majeski (7th) enters this weekend 19 points out while defending series champion Zane Smith (8th) finds himself in virtually a must-win scenario, a whopping 36 points out.

The Xfinity Series makes their second stop of the Round of 8 this weekend. The big story coming into this race is that nobody has locked themselves in yet with Riley Herbst pulling off the dominant win at his home track in Las Vegas. Coming into this Homestead-Miami race weekend, experience reigns above all with the four that reside above the cut line, John H. Nemechek (1st), Justin Allgaier (2nd), Austin Hill (3rd), Cole Custer (4th), share 727 Xfinity Series starts between them with Allgaier having 435 of those himself, while the four below the cut line, Chandler Smith (5th), Sam Mayer (6th), Sammy Smith (7th), Sheldon Creed (8th), have less than a third of starts at just 220.

In the points, John H. Nemechek holds a commanding lead of 47 points over the cut line. Allgaier and Hill sit 21 points above and 19 points above the cut line respectively. Chandler Smith is currently 15 points down on Cole Custer and the cut line with Sam Mayer just 1 point further behind. Sammy Smith and Sheldon Creed are mathematically NOT in a must-win situation, but they will be very fascinating to watch this weekend because any slight issue could put either of them or both of them into a must-win scenario come Martinsville next weekend.

The Cup Series joins the Xfinity Series on their second race of the Round of 8. The big story coming into the week was a DQ for Ryan Blaney when during post-race inspection in Las Vegas, NASCAR Ofiicials found that the Left-Front Shock did not meet specified length. Though, this penalty has since been rescinded and Blaney has been given his 6th place finish back, surely a sigh of relief for the 12 team, but they’re still left with a lot work to do in the points.

Speaking of the points, Kyle Larson (1st) locked himself into the Championship 4 holding off Christoper Bell in the closing laps in Las Vegas. The rest of the Championship 4 is incredibly close. William Byron (2nd) sits just 9 points above the cut line, while Martin Truex Jr (3rd) and Denny Hamlin (4th) sit just 2 points above the cut line. Christopher Bell (5th) subsequently resides just 2 points back while Tyler Reddick (6th) and Ryan Blaney (7th) are 16 points and 17 points down from the cut line. Chris Buescher (8th) is the only driver currently in danger of falling into a must win situation,
