Sunoco Rookie Battle Post Bristol

Unlike the 2023 Sunoco Rookie of the Year battle, which was very one-sided and cut short, 2024 appears to be much closer. Four drivers are competing to be your 2024 Sunoco Rookie of the Year: Josh Berry for Stewart-Haas Racing, Kaz Grala for Front Row Motorsports/Rick Ware Racing, and Zane Smith and Carson Hocevar for Spire Motorsports.

Zane Smith’s season has not gone quite as hoped. The 71 team sits as the 3rd car at Spire Motorsports with a best finish of 13th and an average finish of 29.8.

Josh Berry showed his speed at Bristol, leading laps early. Berry scored his best finish so far this season, 12th. His average finish is 22.4.

Carson Hocevar impressed last season in his fill-in roles and sits on top of the list for the RotY honors. He has a best finish of 15th and an average finish of 23.2.

Kaz Grala made 8 starts in Cup before the 2024 season and is the only driver on the list running for multiple teams. In 2024, he has an average finish of 26.4 and a best finish so far of 14th at Atlanta.
