For the second year in a row, the 32-year-old younger brother of NASCAR Cup Series Champion Martin Truex Jr went to victory lane at the brother’s home track of Dover Motor Speedway. The New Jersey native made a fantastic move on a late race restart to get around 20-year-old JR Motorsport driver Carson Kvapil to score his second career win, his second in 7 races run in the span of a year. Truex was pulling away after his pass of young Mr. Kvapil, only for the race to be cut about 3/4 of a lap short to caution.
Truex only led the last 2 laps that mattered at the end of the race, but remained in the hunt all race long with an average running position of 9.42 all while spending over 95% of the race in the top-15.
Truex has been making limited starts for the Joe Gibbs Racing Xfinity team for the last three years. In those three years, Ryan Truex has made 16 starts for Coach. He has scored 9 top 10s in those 16 starts and led 144 laps in the three seasons leading to his two wins.
Truex is the only multi-time winner in the last year who does not have a full-time ride. Following his win in 2023, his brother Martin went and had his back looking to Gibbs to promote Ryan to full-time, but that clearly has not come to fruition. With two wins under his belt, owners would be a bit off not to work just a bit harder to get Ryan full-time status in 2025.
