Newgarden and Penske Announce Contract Extension

Detroit, MI – Fresh off of his second straight Indy 500 victory, the two-time champion announced Saturday that he will continue to tear up the grid behind the wheel of the No. 2 Hitachi Chevrolet for Team Penske in 2025 and beyond.

The trio of Hitachi as sponsor, Penske as team and Newgarden as driver will continue on into the future as they announce a new Multi-year contract extension here in the footprint of Chevrolet’s parent company, General Motors at the Renaissance Center.

Over his 13 year career, Newgarden has scored 27 of 30 victories with Penske after joining the team starting for the 2017 season. In that inaugural season with Team Penske, Newgarden scored his first NTT IndyCar Championship and followed that up two years later in 2019 with a second.

Newgarden will start tomorrow’s Detroit Grand Prix in third position behind Pole sitter Colton Herta and P. 2 Alex Palou. Newgarden has won in Detroit back in 2019, however, that was on Bell Isle’s circuit and not the street course that we will run tomorrow.
