ARCA Menards Series Calypso 150 PREVIEW

It’s race number 7 of the ARCA Menards Series season, and our second combined race with the East Series, this being their 6th race. This time last year, Iowa was a east series exclusive track, but now has seen the return of XFINITY and the debut of Cup.

So far, Andres Perez leads the ARCA Menards Series points by 20 points over Greg Van Alst, with Amber Balcean, Lavar Scott and Kris Wright rounding out your top five. In  the ARCA Menards EAST Series, Connor Zilisch leads William Sawalich by 12 points, with Gio Ruggerio in the 20 in 3rd, 20 points behind Zilisch, Zachary Tinkle in 4th down 28 points and D.L Wilson rounding out the top 5.

Notable entries include Christopher Tate in the 10, Presley Sorah in the 86, making his return to ARCA after his 2 races ended in DNFS in the east series, 2015 ARCA Menards Series winner at Iowa Mason Mitchell in the 23, and the shocking news of the week, Cody Dennison leaving Wayne Peterson for CW Motorsports in their #93.

26 cars have entered to the Calypso 150, but at one point was supposed to be 27, with the adding of the #0 for Colby Evans, making his ARCA Menards Series debut, but after the Charlotte wreck for Wayne Peterson Racing, the 0 could not be repaired in time for Iowa.

WINNER PREDICTION- Connor Zilisch

Last time we saw Connor in one of these combined races, he went out and won @ Dover. With the speed Pinnacle Racing Group had, I won’t be shocked to see them up front contending for a win at Iowa.

UNDERDOG Prediction- Zachary Tinkle

Zachary has had an insane start to the 2024 season. Starting on 7 cylinders for the first 2 races for Fast Track Racing, then finally getting back to full speed at Nashville and getting 2 straight top 5s, one at Nashville and one at Flat Rock, Zachary might be a underdog contender for a clean, but quiet  top 10 at Iowa on Friday.

The Calypso 150 at Iowa has the green flag drop at 7:10 CT/8:10 ET on Fox Sports 1.

  1. Iowa has been on the main Arca Schedule since 2015 been on the east schedule since 2021. Great article though!
