Logano to Replace Deegan for the Xfinity Chicago Race

Fresh off his first victory of the 2024 Cup Series season, Joey Logano will be hopping into the AM Racing Xfinity Series No. 15 Mustang. Joey has 30 career victories in the Xfinity Series with his most recent dating all the way back to 2018. Joey hasn’t run in the series since 2019.

At Chicago, Logano will take the reigns of the 15 Mustang over from Hailie Deegan who has fielded the car for the first 17 races of the season. With support from the team’s current partner Klutch Vodka, Logano will tackle the streets of Chicago where he finished 11th in his No. 22 Mustang for Team Penske. Chicago was the scene of the team’s best finish when Brett Moffitt finished P. 4.

It’s no secret that the team has had a rough first half of the 2024 Xfinity Series season with full-time driver and fan favorite Hailie Deegan behind the wheel of the 15 car. 17 races into the season and Deegan’s best finish was 12th at Talladega and has an average finish of 26.82.

2x Cup Series champion Joey Logano is being brought in to provide feedback for the AM Racing team to use to improve on-track performance. Currently the team operates one full time entry with a technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing.

AM Racing team president Wade Moore stated, “It is our goal at AM Racing to field a competitive race team through our technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing and provide any of our drivers the best equipment and opportunity to be successful on track each weekend.”

“With that being said, we haven’t had the success on track that we were hoping for in the first half of the season. When the opportunity to have Joey in the car at Chicago became a possibility, we felt we needed to take advantage of the knowledge and feedback that a two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion could provide to our teams’ growth.”

If Deegan is to be interchanged with other drivers for the remainder of the season or return to the 15 car at all is not yet known.
