British Grand Prix Preview and Predictions

Mercedes

George Russell- Pole

Lewis Hamilton- 2nd

Best case scenario- 1-2 Finish

Floor- Both are in the Top 5

Mercedes has a real chance to do some damage in this race. Russell and Hamilton locked out the front row of the grid those upgrades Mercedes put on the car seem to have paid off the two British drivers have a chance for a strong showing in front of their home crowd. Max Verstappen Red Bull is damaged, but Lando Norris is hungry. In my opinion, it will be a double podium for Mercedes.

McLaren

Lando Norris- 3rd

Oscar Piastri- 5th

Best case scenario- Double Podium

Floor- Both are in the Top 5

Like Mercedes, McLaren has a real chance to make up serious ground on Red Bull. Lando Norris is starting third with a better car than the two Mercedes in front of him. The young Vertis driver has a shot at his second career win. Oscar Piastri is starting fifth, he has an injured Red Bull in front of him. McLaren should be able to take out a large chunk of points from Red Bull this week. My prediction is that Norris gets his second career win and Piastri brings it home fourth.

Red Bull

Max Verstappen- 4th

Sergio Perez- 19th

Best case scenario- Double Points

Floor- Verstappen 5th Perez DNF

The struggle continues for Sergio Perez and it’s a nightmare for Red Bull. With Verstappen in an injured car and Perez in the back of the field, they have a slim to none chance of furthering their lead in the constructor’s championship. While Verstappen is the best driver on the grid, I see his best possible finish being fifth. Perez has to figure out these issues before they become detrimental to the team. Verstappen cannot win a constructor championship on his own. In my opinion, Verstappen will finish fifth and Perez will try too hard and DNF.

Haas

Nico Hulkenberg- 6th

Kevin Magnussen- 17th

Best case scenario- 6th for Hulkenberg

Floor- Points for Hulkenberg

Nico Hulkenberg continues to be a qualifying legend for Haas. He has been showing week in and week out that this car does have pace, while his teammate continues to drop the ball. For Haas, is a one-driver race. Haas is going to put everything they have into making sure Hulkenberg scores points this week. In my opinion, he will. A sixth place is the best he can hope for, but I believe it will be an eighth or ninth-place finish.

Ferrari

Carlos Sainz- 7th

Charles LeClerc- 11th

Best case scenario- Double points

Floor- Double points

Ferrari is probably the biggest loser this week. With Red Bull having an awful qualifying, Ferrari didn’t need to have one also. McLaren is going to make up points and possibly pass Ferrari this weekend. The best the team can hope for is to stay calm and get both drivers in the points. They need to minimize the damage from a bad qualifying. In my opinion, they will score double points. They will be somewhere between sixth and tenth place for both drivers.

Aston Martin

Lance Stroll- 8th

Fernando Alonso- 10th

Best case scenario- double points

Floor- just miss out on points

Aston Martin comes into the British Grand Prix in no man’s land in the constructors championship. They are well behind Mercedes, the team ahead of them, but well in front of RB, the team behind them. Stroll had a great qualifying, and Alonzo got it in the Q3. The best this team can hope for is a double-point finish. In my opinion, they will get at least one driver into the points.

Williams

Alex Albon- 9th

Logan Sargeant- 12th

Best case scenario- One driver in the final points position

Floor- Both drivers out of points

This is a golden opportunity for Williams, after a great qualifying. They need to do everything in their power to make sure one of their drivers scores the points. Every point goes a long way in getting more money at the end of the season. Right now they’ve only scored two points for the entire season, a third point could be the difference between ninth and 10th in the constructors championship. I do believe that Albon will score the points. He will be in the final points-paying position of 10th.

RB

Yuki Tsunoda- 13th

Daniel Riccardo- 15th

Best case scenario- Tsunoda in 10th

Floor- Both drivers 13th or worse

RB would have liked to have had a better qualifying. It is going to be difficult for them to score points this week. Their only chance is for Tsunoda to somehow get 10th. In my opinion, they will not be in the points this week.

Sauber

Zhou Guanyu- 14th

Valtteri Bottas- 16th

Best case scenario- Both drivers in the Top 15

Floor- 19th and 20th

Sauber’s disaster of a season continues, but at least they made it to Q2 this week. The team is just riding around until Audi takes over. I don’t have much to say about this team, other than both drivers will probably finish lower than 15th.

Alpine

Esteban Ocon- 18th

Pierre Gasly- 20th

Best case scenario- one driver in the Top 15

Floor- 19th and 20th

Alpine had an absolute disaster of a qualifying. They were on slick tires when the rain came. As punishment for bad decisions, they will be starting 18th and 20th. The best they can hope for is to get one driver and the top 15 and put this weekend behind them. I’m not sure if they have the car to do that. in my opinion, neither will score a top-15 finish.
