How NASCAR The Community Is Helping In Hurricane Relief

A week ago, Hurricane Helene began its devastation on the Southeastern United States. It made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend around 11 PM on September 26th and ravaged Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and especially North Carolina, in the following hours and days. Many NASCAR Teams, many individuals in the industry and many fans are chipping to help bring relief to Western North Carolina. The region has experienced historic levels of rainfall and subsequent horrific flooding as a result.

23XI Racing

23XI began accepting supplies donations at their Airspeed shop on October 1st from 7:30AM to 5:30PM and will continue receiving said donations until tomorrow. The team accepted many items. Including but not limited to: Various child care items, water, batteries, etc.

Joe Gibbs Racing

JGR has been accepting donations all week of water, non-perishable foods and tarps. They have been using their company helicopter to help deliver everything to the Asheville area.

Hendrick Motorsports

HMS has had many of its employees gather items to send by ground and by air to Western NC. They have put together truckloads of food, water and hygiene products.

Richard Childress Racing

RCR has been accepting donations at their Museum and Team Store all week to send.

Trackhouse Racing

Like the other teams, Trackhouse has been working to gather food and supplies. And Team Co-Owner Justin Marks has personally visited Western NC with his friends at Aerial Recovery, a Nashville based non-profit organization that aids in Natural Disaster recovery among other things.

Kaulig Racing

Kaulig is collecting donations at their shop in Welcome, North Carolina all week. Team President Chris Rice has been personally accepting donations himself and has personally picked up supplies as well.

JTG Daugherty Racing

JTG Daugherty has also dropped off truckloads of supplies to send to Asheville. Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the team’s regular Cup Series Driver has begun selling T-Shirts that say “NCStrong” on them, in which all proceeds will be going to the NC Disaster Relief Fund. Stenhouse will also be matching every donation himself.

Tracks

The race teams aren’t the only ones helping out. Charlotte Motor Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway have hosted Hurricane Relief Drives over the last couple of days.

Sponsors

Campers Inn RV has been accepting donations at various locations and at their mobile service booth at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Seriously Fast Motorsports Media

Our founder, Tom Luttermoser, has started a GoFundMe campaign where he is looking to source between $2,500 and $3,500 to rent a large cargo van, load it full of desperately needed items such as clothing, propane, baby food, formula, diapers, sanitary wipes, etc., drive it to areas in Tennessee, Virginia, or North Carolina, and stay to help as “boots on the ground” for as long as donations will allow.

Several members of the Seriously Fast Family have made donations to various organizations, including several donations to the GoFundMe.

You can donate to the GoFundMe here, or to our PayPal @Seriouslyfastbrands or to either Venmo or CashApp @SeriouslyFast.

How You Can Still Help

There is still plenty of time to help if you can, whether it’s donating money, supplies or food, there is still a need. You can start by looking towards the teams and donating food and supplies to those that are still accepting them, especially if you’re in the North Carolina area.

You can also go to any local food drives benefiting disaster relief, like the American Red Cross and World Central Kitchen.

This is by no means everything that is being done to aid those who have been affected by Hurricane Helene, this is just everything that I have found.
