Hailing from Ottawa, IL, 26-year-old veteran Tim Richmond will be competing in five more events in the ARCA Menards Series this season, driving the #27 Toyota Camry for Empire Racing Group. He previously competed in the season opener at Daytona, where he finished 17th after DNF’ing on lap 64 following a spin with Jake Finch and ensuing mechanical issues. The series veteran who is not related to the 13-time NASCAR Cup Series winner Tim Richmond will be entered in the events at Talladega Superspeedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Iowa Speedway, and Bristol Motor Speedway. Compared to his schedule from last year, he will be entered in the race at Iowa for the first time since 2022, but will not be competing on the road courses such as Watkins Glen International this season, as he has in the prior two seasons. It was not announced who would be the crew chief, but Adam Murphy was his crew chief at Daytona and all of his starts last season. Immigration Law Center served as a sponsor of Richmond at Daytona since 2020 and will remain a partner, but it is unclear which races this season.
Richmond made his ARCA Menards Series debut in 2019, driving for Wayne Peterson Motorsports at Five Flags Speedway, and ended up competing in 16 more races that season with a best finish of 11th at Toledo Speedway. He then returned to the team in 2020 for 14 races where he earned his first career top 10 finish in the series with a 9th place finish also at Toledo. His father, David, then formed a new team, partnering with fellow team owner Alex Clubb to create Richmond-Clubb Motorsports for the 2021 season, with the #27 running full time. The plan was for Richmond to compete in 13 races and Clubb in eight, with both drivers running one race together, but unfortunately, Richmond only got to run nine races after an injury at Michigan put him on the sidelines for the rest of the season. He had a best finish of 13th in 2021 which occurred three times at Phoenix, Charlotte, and Iowa. The partnership with Clubb did not continue into 2022, and Richmond Motorsports went independent with the #27 scaling back to part-time.
Richmond competed in five races in 2022 where he almost finished on the podium at Daytona. A caution came out with five laps to go while Richmond was running in 3rd, but unfortunately had to pit before the final restart and finished in 18th. Richmond also returned for four races in 2023. In 2024, he started the year off strong, qualifying outside pole at Daytona to Willie Mullins and running in the lead pack all race long, also avoiding the big one on the last lap and finishing in 5th, his best finish in the series to date. Richmond would be entered in six more races throughout 2024. For this season, though, Richmond Motorsports has merged with Empire Racing Group, and Richmond will be competing out of the North Carolina-based team’s shop. At Daytona, Richmond competed as a teammate to team owner Sean Corr from New York, who unfortunately was involved in an early accident. Corr is expected to also compete in more events throughout the 2025 season. Richmond is hoping to continue improving competition and speed-wise for the remainder of his schedule and even go for his first career win. The General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway, which will be the third race of the ARCA Menards Series calendar, will occur on Saturday, April 26 at 12:30 PM ET/11:30 AM CT, airing on FS1 and the FOX Sports app.
