The Lucas Oil Late Model Series made their first ever stop at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis on Friday night. The weather was nice, the trackwork was nice and the racing was somehow even better. Brandon Overton (76) set the pace early with a fast time in both hot laps and qualifying. He would go on to win his heat race and start the feature from the pole, sharing the front row with the 20RT of Ricky Thornton Jr.
The 50-lap feature was more of the same with Overton showing the way wire-to-wire. It wasn’t all free and easy, though. The event’s three cautions led to challenges from competitors, first with Garrett Alberson (58) keeping the 76 honest during the first half of the event, and later it would be the 99 of Devin Moran who would mount an effort to dethrone Overton. Following a late race restart, Moran was able to get to the door of 76 multiple times and stayed within striking distance once the 76 was able to shake him. Ultimately, it would be Overton who would hold off all advances and collect his 19th LOLMS victory, his first of the 2025 campaign. Devin Moran would go on to finish 2nd, and Tyler O’Neal (71) would round out the podium. Jonathan Davenport (49), who sits 3rd in the season standings, raced his way from 8th to a 4th-place finish. Points leader Ricky Thornton Jr. (20RT) finished 5th, and ROY contender Daniel Hilsabeck (22) finished a strong 7th, claiming his first top 10 of the season. Tomorrow night’s event at Florence, Kentucky, has been canceled due to weather, which means the next event will happen on May 9th at Farmer City, Illinois.
