Gravel Goes for 10, Macedo Gets Redemption at Cedar Lake

This weekend, Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI, was home for the traveling big top that is the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series. The track, built in 1957, has been an annual stop for the Greatest Show on Dirt since Steve Kinser pulled into victory lane on July 11, 1983.

Carson Macedo started on the pole for night 1, but jumped the start, resulting in a restart and a one-row penalty that handed the lead to David Gravel. Gravel went on to hold off Macedo and the red-hot Michael “Buddy” Kofoid in the closing laps, despite having a broken front wing. When asked about the damage in Victory Lane, Gavel added, “It sure as hell didn’t help. Luckily, we got the job done here tonight. Cody (Jacobs) gave me a great race car. We worked on this car all night long. I’m glad we got the gremlins out and managed to get a win tonight. “Macedo held on for 2nd and owned the mistake: “Ultimately, I’m not going to stand here and make excuses and blame anyone other than myself for losing the race tonight. The guys did a good job. They obviously gave me a car capable of winning. I was closing back on the 2 late in the race. It’s just tough. When the track is that fast, a little bit of track position goes a long way. It is what it is.”. The win is Gravel’s 10th of the season and makes 2025 his third consecutive season with double-digit wins in the World of Outlaws.

Macedo was out for redemption on night #2. The 41 started on the pole before losing the lead to Gio Scelzi on lap 4, but was able to out-duel Scelzi on lap 19 to retake the lead and hold on for his first WOO win at Cedar Lake. “I’ve lost some late in the race, early in the race, just making the wrong decisions and lost one to Brad here a few years back that stung really bad, so it feels good to finally put it in victory lane here”.

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Cars will be back in action on July 10th at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota. If you can, grab some tickets; otherwise, you can watch it live on DirtVision.
