Austin Dillon Scores Redemption for 2024 at Richmond

Austin Dillon proved to have the car and strategy during the 2024 Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway. What else could have derailed the 3 car but a late race caution and restart? Joey Logano managed to get around him for the restart. On his way to victory, Joey would be dumped from behind by Austin, causing the two cars to head high up the track. Denny Hamlin made the pass on both, only to be hooked by Dillon. But in the end, they had just enough momentum to keep it going to score the win.

Austin would be granted the win, the fifth of his career. But lose out on the Playoff spot and an opportunity at a title.

The 2025 Cook Out 400

Fast forward to 2025, and Austin would get his chance at redemption. The 3 team had Richmond circled on the calendar all season long, and that was evident early on during the 2025 Cook Out 400. With the second-highest everage running position all afternoon long, Austin Dillon was seemingly always in contention, even scoring 14 Stage Points throughout the race before taking the lead and never giving it back.

Austin Dillon would lead a career-high 107 laps on his way to what many fans are calling one of his few “clean” race wins. In fact, the battle between him and Ryan Blaney was spectacular. There was no unnecessary contact on either end. Austin would prevail to score his 6th career NASCAR Cup Series victory. Best of all? This time, he keeps the Playoff spot.

Austin Dillon Season Stats

His win at Richmond was his first Top 5 of the 2025 season and the 5th Top 10. Season to date, Austin has led 115 total laps. Austin Dillon is now the 14th winner of the 2025 season.
