With horrific pit issues for Alex Bowman so far during the Playoff opener at Darlington and a less-than-stellar performance at Gateway, a change is desperately needed on the 48 team if they wish to make up for the 35-point deficit heading into Bristol. Well, Hendrick Motorsports has an option that they have taken advantage of to help. Hendrick Motorsports provides many things to other teams—from Engines, or data, to trained pit crews. And one of those pit crews just so happens to be proving to outperform the 48 team. That crew just so happens to pit the No. 77 Chevrolet of Carson Hocevar and Spire Motorsports.
Heading into Thunder Valley this weekend, HMS will shift four crew members from the Spire 77 to the Hendrick 48. That includes Front Tire Changer Daniel Bach, Rear Tire Changer Rod Cox, Tire Carrier Jarius Morehead, and Jackman Cody French.
Bowman’s season is in Major jeopardy this weekend at Bristol. With 20 points separating him from van Gisbergen and 24 from Austin Dillon, Bowman would have to earn major Stage Points as well as perform well for the finish to make up for the deficit he is in. Another help would for sure be a little bad luck for others above the cutline, such as Austin Cindric, Ross Chastain, or Joey Logano, who are only 11 to 21 points above.
