A NASCAR Fan Guide: What to bring to the Track 2026 Edition

We all know someone who has never been to a NASCAR race before. As much as we regulars all know what we’re doing, there are some who don’t. So let’s share this with those who need it!

Warm Races

First things you’re going to need are safety-related.

  • Sunscreen – Skin Cancer kills, don’t play
  • Ear protection – Take it from someone whose hearing has been damaged: earplugs and/or earmuffs.
  • Polarized sunglasses
  • Cooler – Most NASCAR tracks allow you to bring a soft-sided cooler, so make sure to bring it to save yourself a TON of money.
  • Beer
  • Water
  • Snacks or food

Colder Races

  • Ear Protection – Don’t be stupid; not wearing it doesn’t make you cool.
  • Cooler
  • Beer
  • Sunglasses
  • Snacks or food
  • Jacket

For the Kids

  • Ear Protection – Your kids only get two ears, if they’re not protected… I’m judging your parenting skills.
  • Sunscreen – Read above
  • Water – Races in the sun for many hours in the grandstands get HOT. Don’t risk your kids’ health
  • Sharpies – You know they want autographs
  • Seat cushions – you’re welcome
  • Snacks
  • Blankets – especially for those early or late-season night races
  • Sunglasses

Personal Recommendations from the Editor

  • Ponchos… They don’t call me “Rain Man” in the media center for no reason. I once covered 6 races in a row that were rained out or delayed. If I’m going, just bring the damn thing.
  • Beer
  • Scanner – If you’re looking for the ultimate fan experience, THIS IS A MUST!
  • Beer
  • Portable phone charging bank – I don’t usually need this one because I have a charger in the Media Center, but it’s a huge one I’ve learned over the years. Signal usually sucks, so your phone is working overtime.
  • Beer
  • Your favorite memorabilia: There are many drivers who LOVE to make the experience memorable.
  • Beer

DO NOT BRING

  • Weapons of any sort
  • A shitty attitude
  • Your Rebel Flag. No one cares, bro. They lost well over 100 years ago (They will escort you out)
  • Seltzers (Guys only)
  • Glass bottles
  • Blow Up Dolls (Yes, I’ve seen these in the stands. It’s creepy & there are kids around)
  • A massive box of diecasts to get signed by the same driver. There are other people, and these drivers are usually in a hurry. You’re killing the experience for others. (Thank god there are some drivers that will blow you off to sign for the kids)
  • Not that I personally am opposed to it anywhere else, but don’t bring weed into the grandstands. Again, guys, there are kids.
  • Fireworks – Should be self-explanatory
