CW Broadcast Leaks Peterson Racing’s 2027 Plans

Peterson Racing announced late in 2025 that the team would field its No. 87 Chevrolet in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series full-time for Austin Green for the ’26 season. Austin did fill the seat until it was announced late in May of ’26 that former AM Racing driver Nick Sanchez would split the seat later in the season.

Last night, during the CW’s Broadcast of the race at EchoPark Speedway, the team in the booth dropped that Peterson Racing would be expanding in 2027. No one knows yet who will run the rides next season. One may guess that Nick Sanchez would be a great option; he is an O’Reilly Series winner who had a legitimate chance at scoring the team their maiden victory last night.

Austin Green has been the anchor driver for Peterson, running their car part-time before 2026, and has had some solid finishes. One would think that he would have the 87 for next season as the team continues to grow and build around a single driver in their first car.

The team registered both the 87 & 89 for 2026, so one may assume they would continue with the 89 into 2027. No matter the number, it’s always great seeing smaller teams grow, no matter the series.
