Kaulig Racing and Dodge dropped the absolute bombshell Monday night. They’re Back!
Dodge has not been in the NASCAR Cup Series since Brad Keselowski drove his Blue Deuce to their 2012 Cup Series Championship at Homestead-Miami. Over the years, the brand has brought glory to many drivers such as Bobby Allison, Lee Petty, Richard Petty, Rusty Wallace, Brad Keselowski, David Pearson, Bill Elliott, and many others.
Dodge’s announcement comes a year earlier than expected, but Stellantis’s head of the Street and Racing Technologies division (SRT), Tim Kuniskis, shared the news at the brand’s SEMA display in Las Vegas this afternoon.
“Everyone said it was impossible to get back in one year. We said, ‘watch this,’” Tim Kuniskis
Dodge will announce its driver lineup at Homestead this upcoming NASCAR Championship weekend.
Dodge’s Cup car, I fully expect, will be introduced as the all-new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, which will be unveiled at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, on December 4th, where Dodge will hold the Dodge Sno-Brawl. The event will feature spec-prepared Dodge Charger late-model stock cars fielded by Celebrity drivers.
“Dodge’s return to the NASCAR Cup Series is a significant milestone for the sport,” NASCAR Chief Executive Officer Steve O’Donnell said. “This commitment speaks to Dodge’s belief in our sport and gives fans another reason to be excited about what’s ahead. The partnership between NASCAR, Tim Kuniskis and the entire team at Stellantis has been nothing short of phenomenal. They have a deep passion for NASCAR and its ability to showcase the world’s top brands, and we can’t wait to see Dodge on the race track for the Daytona 500 and beyond.”
John Probst has confirmed there will not be any new charters for Dodge’s return.
Dodge’s return will be the first time NASCAR has had a fourth manufacturer since its exit in 2012.
