Newly signed Kaulig Racing and Trackhouse development driver Shane Van Gisbergen will be running the ARCA Menards Series opener at Daytona on February 17th, per Trackhouse President Ty Norris on NASCAR SiriusXM.
Gisbergen has to have superspeedway experience in order to run plate tracks in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024, and running the ARCA Test and/or the ARCA opener at Daytona will get him approved for a superspeedway license.
Gisbergen will be running 8 overall plate races in 2024, with 2 NASCAR Cup Series plate races at Talladega and 6 overall plate races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Some drivers in the past, like Danica Patrick and Dario Franchitti, etc., had to make their superspeedway debuts in order to run events in their respective series.
It is to be announced what team, sponsors, and other information SVG will be driving for at this time, but we should be finding out within a couple weeks.
