NASCAR Debuts New Netflix Docuseries: Full Speed

Following the massive success of Formula One’s Drive to Survive Netflix series, NASCAR wanted in on all the drama and exclusive behind-the-scenes content by releasing the five-episode season one of NASCAR: Full Speed.

The series follows a select group of drivers in their playoff bids for the 2023 season, capturing the action on and off the track while demonstrating the trials and tribulations of contesting the NASCAR Playoffs and the stress it puts on the drivers, their families, and the teams.

The Netflix camera crews were given the opportunity to be a fly on the wall in multiple driver’s lives, including Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace, Ryan Blaney, Tyler Reddick, and William Byron, just to name a few, and get a glimpse of their personal and professional lives, showing of the drivers’ home lives, work at the shop, and the behind the scenes at the racetrack.

The series spends a lot of time specifically with Hamlin and the 23XI Racing team, and this is not surprising, as the team is co-owned by Hamlin and NBA legend Michael Jordan and employs arguably one of the most mainstream drivers across the country, being Bubba Wallace.

Hamlin is also a very polarizing figure among NASCAR fans, and in recent years, has done a great job at broadcasting his personality on-air and on his podcast “Actions Detrimental,” so this move to include Hamlin as a main protagonist in the series is a no-brainer.

The series, as previously mentioned, consists of five episodes compiled chronologically starting with the regular season finale at Daytona, going all the way until the final race of the season at Phoenix in the fifth and final episode.

Each episode consists of a few playoff races, showing the perspective of different drivers in every race, conveying the lead-up and situation that each driver faces going into the race and how the results affect them behind the scenes.

Netflix does an amazing job at making the show exciting for all, ranging from non-NASCAR fans to lifelong hardcore fans. It does a great job at showing how each race matters in the big picture of the championship and how much effort and work goes into being competitive and fighting for the title in the biggest stock car series in the world.

NASCAR: Full Speed is emotional, exciting, intriguing, and an amazing way to spend a few hours binge the entire series for anyone to enjoy.

The series is also a huge step for NASCAR to get the sport to a younger and more mainstream audience.

So, if you’ve got a few hours to kill, try giving NASCAR: Full Speed a watch and take a deep dive into the real lives of these high-level athletes.
