The 2024 Busch Light Clash at the L.A. Coliseum was held under unprecedented circumstances. For the first time in NASCAR history, a race was pushed up a full 24 hours early. Those of us NASCAR faithful ended up robbed of the Heat races and Last Chance Qualuifiers, but we fully understand the reasoning.
The race was a 150-lap, 2-part event held in its entirety before the rains came in on Sunday morning. Despite shoulder surgery and stating he was far from 100%, Denny Hamlin qualified on Pole for the rushed event with Joey Logano, followed by Ty Gibbs in third in his first start of his sophomore season.
Ty would lead the most at 84 laps, followed by eventual race winner Hamlin at 58. The only other 2 drivers to lead would be Joey Logano at 8 laps and Brad Keselowski with a single lap.
The only penalty of the night was for the 9 car of Chase Elliott for pitting while pit road was closed on Lap 77 after a steering failure. The entire race lasted 1 hour and 8 minutes from green to checkered.
