IROC is Back in 2024!

From 1974-2006 the International Race of Champions (IROC) was essentially the motorsport version of the famed “All-Star Game” seen in sports such as Baseball and Football.

It was a group of 12 of the best in American motorsports, racing identically prepped stock cars on primarily American oval tracks. They raced Porsche 911s, Chevrolet Camaros, Dodge Daytonas & Avengers, and ran the now iconic Pontiac Trans Am from 1996-2006.

Back on January 28th, legendary NASCAR crew chief and former SRX Series developer Ray Evernham made a public announcement that he would be bringing back the legendary series for a single race in 2024.

Today, we find out the dates. July 19-20th at the iconic Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut. The press release stated that the event would feature “On track racing and a static (stand still) display… Fans will have an opportunity to see nearly every generation of IROC racecars, many being driven by former IROC drivers” They will reunite original IROC competitors with cars that actually raced in the series.

There is no word yet on the competitors who are expected, nor a race format. But stay tuned with Seriously Fast as we keep you up to date.

Drivers such as Mark Donohue, A.J. Foyt (2), Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt (4), Mark Martin (5) each won titles in the series.
