Chastain Smashes the Truck Competition at Darlington

We didn’t hear much about the Florida native watermelon farmer during Friday night’s Buckle Up South Carolina 200 at Darlington Raceway. Once we saw in the crack hours of Saturday morning just past midnight, Ross Chastain snagged his fifth career Craftsman Truck Series victory.

Ross spent the entire night in the top 15 with an average running position of 4.65 showing he was a contender all night long. Despite the great running, Ross just couldn’t get that No. 45 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado RST to the front of field until it mattered.

With just a handful of laps to go, ThorSport driver Ty Majeski appeared to have the race in the bag until the 91 brought out a very late race caution. That’s where Ross struck, on the restart. Ross would take the lead early on the restart, leading the last 3 laps of the race before showing off with one of the best burnouts we have seen in quite some time!
