Alpine F1 announced today that beginning in 2026, the team will begin to operate Mercedes-Benz power units (Engines for our non-F1 friends) after deciding to ditch their own power unit earlier this season. The deal with the German juggernaut also includes use of their gearbox (Transmissions).
The multi-year agreement allows the French race team to run the Mercedes powertrains from 2026 until at least 2030. The deal begins in 2026 as that is when the new engine and chassis rules are put in place. Currently, Alpine is the only team using Renault power units in F1 and shocked everyone with a double-podium in Brazil.
