Five Bold Predictions for the 2025 F1 Season

Prediction 1- For the second year in a row, the driver’s champion and constructor’s champion will be different teams.

Max Verstappen is primed to win his fifth driver championship, but Red Bull isn’t set for the constructors. Ferrari and McLaren both had better cars than Red Bull in 2024 and I don’t see that changing. Liam Lawson is also a wildcard. He will need to be near Verstappen level for the constructors to be in play. To this point, Lawson hasn’t accomplished enough to say he can be on Verstappen’s level.

Prediction 2- Jack Doohan won’t be replaced by Franco Colapinto this season

Colapinto signed with Alpine as a reserve and test driver for 2025. Many believe that at some point this season, Colapinto will replace Doohan. I’m not one of those people. Colapinto is talented and will be back in F1, but not at Doohan’s expense. This is just a hunch, but Alpine doesn’t strike me as a team to jettison a young driver quickly.

Prediction 3- Esteban Ocon doesn’t finish the season with Haas

This prediction has everything to do with Ollie Bearman being the future of Ferrari. Ocon has a reputation for being a bad teammate. That is a sin in F1 you can’t overlook. If Ocon hinders Bearman’s development in any way, he will be replaced.

Prediction 4- Kevin Magnussen returns to Haas

With Ocon gone in prediction three, Haas would need a driver. Magnussen will be that guy. It’s rumored that an option to return to Haas is in his WEC contract. He’s also the perfect teammate for a young developing driver.

Prediction 5- Colton Herta is announced as one of the drivers for GM

Herta’s F1 dream isn’t over. He suffered a setback when his application for a super license was denied. RB gave him a contract, so F1 teams see him as a talented driver. This time, all he needs is 10 points to get his super license. He will get the 10 points in Indycar this year.
