Dale Earnhardt Jr and JR Motorsports are slated to make a “Daytona related” announcement at 4pm today, and nothing more was said. Now the speculations are running wild across the social media world. So in the spirit of having a little Pre-Season fun, we take a look at some of the rumors that we have seen floating around.
Heads up for those Jr. hopefuls, you’re at roughly 0% likelihood of him climbing in for another Daytona 500.
JR Motorsports is Buying into a Team for a Daytona 500 Debut.
Dale Jr. has made it pretty clear that buying into an existing or upcoming team is the only way they could see JRM joining the NASCAR Cup Series. There is a chance that Dale and Kelly have invested into a Daytona 500 entry for a one off or potentially even a select start Open entry.
JR Motorsports will Field a Car for Daniel Ricciardo
We all want to see more F1 or IndyCar drivers make starts in NASCAR. With Daniel being released in 2024 from his F1 ride, it gives him a wide-open schedule to make a NASCAR debut. Likelihood of this is pretty low, but we can all be hopeful right?
A JR Motorsports Driver Will Make a Daytona 500 Attempt
Maybe JR Motorsports isn’t running a car at all, but maybe they are standing behind a current driver such as reigning Xfinity Series Champion Justin Allgaier to make a start in someone else’s car.
Truex and JR Reunite
Dale Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. have been close friends for decades and with an upcoming announcement from JRM and Truex publicly making it clear for months that he will run the 2025 Daytona 500, maybe JRM uses their mutual support from Bass Pro Shops and field a one time only car for an old friend.
Maybe We’re All Thinking too Hard
Maybe it is something as simple as a Sponsor announcement for one of the JR Motorsports guys to run at Daytona. But with all this thought, it’s just fun to sit here and chat with fellow fans and fellow hopefuls about where this “Major” announcement could go.
