Kyle Larson won the Baptist Health 200 after spinning and starting at the back of the field when the race went back to green.
Corey Heim started on the pole and would win the opening stage. The second stage was also dominated by Heim and took the second stage win. Early in the third stage, Kyle Larson made a Superman pass underneath leader Lane Riggs and Ross Chastain, but got loose trying to finish the pass on Riggs. The ensuing spin sent Larson to the back of the pack after pitting to replace a flat left rear during the ensuing caution.
After the restart, Corey Heim passed Ross Chastain and appeared to be on his way to check out and win until mechanical gremlins reared their heads as Heim’s truck repeatedly shut off, causing Heim to have to recycle the electronics on the fly to get it to re-fire.
With less than five laps to go, Kyle Larson, who had been turning blistering laps running against the wall, suddenly showed up in 3rd place, and with three laps to go, Larson made the pass on Riggs for the lead.
Riggs held on to finish second while Corey Heim survived and nursed his truck home third, Tyler Ankrum finished fourth, and Daniel Hemric rounded out the top 5.
The trucks head to Martinsville for the Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 220 this Friday evening. You can catch all the action at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on FS1.
