Don’t Count Corey Heim Out. The Bad Luck is Temporary.

The 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season has been one of frustration and near-misses for Corey Heim after a blazing start. The 21-year-old driver has shown flashes of greatness which has made him a fan favorite and a championship contender, but bad breaks this season have hindered his efforts to establish himself as a consistent closer.

A Promising Start

Heim entered the 2025 season with high expectations. He came out of the gate strong by winning at Daytona, and then again at Las Vegas. The talented young driver was looking to build on his 2024 success, which featured five wins and a second-place finish in the season standings. With factory backing at Tricon Garage and an increased sense of confidence, Heim was poised to make a significant impact coming into the 2025 season. Instead, the season has been a rollercoaster for the Georgia native, with several unlucky circumstances that are trying their best to derail what started out to be a breakthrough year.

Mechanical Failures and Pit Road Blunders

Perhaps the most frustrating part of Heim’s season so far has been the mechanical failures that have struck at the worst possible moments. Whether it’s engine issues, or electrical problems, it seems like whatever Heim does as of late, he’s snake-bit.

Pit road has also been a source of frustration. Miscommunication between Heim and his crew has led to slow pit stops or mistakes at times that cost him valuable track position. While these issues are part of racing, for a developing driver like Heim, they’ve had a bigger impact than most.

Handling the Mental Challenge

Despite the string of recent bad luck, Heim has remained remarkably resilient. He’s known for his maturity and has kept a positive outlook despite the setbacks. “Racing is a long season, and these things happen,” Heim said in a post-race interview after a tough finish. “We know we’ve got the speed and the team to get it done. We just need some things to fall our way, and we’ll be back up front.”

That level-headedness is one of the reasons why Heim will be a future star in the NASCAR Cup Series. No matter what, Heim’s potential is undeniable. His ability to race in the top 10, even when luck isn’t on his side, speaks volumes about his team, his talent, and his determination.

Looking Ahead: Will the Luck Turn?

Despite the tough luck in the last few races, Heim remains optimistic about the rest of the season. Tricon puts competitive trucks underneath him week in and week out, and Heim’s talent behind the wheel is undeniable. With this week’s race at Bristol, there’s a sense of anticipation that the pieces will finally come back together.

The 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season may have hit a bump or two for Corey, but it’s far from over. It’s only a matter of time before his bad luck turns into a string of strong results, and if the stars align, there’s no reason why Heim won’t contend for the championship this year. For Corey Heim, the best may still be yet to come.
