2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series: Points Battle Heats Up at Rockingham
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Rockingham Speedway this weekend for the inaugural Black’s Tire 200, marking the series’ return to the historic 1.017-mile oval after more than a decade. This race is pivotal not only for its nostalgic significance but also for its impact on the ongoing points battle as the season progresses. Every driver, with the exception of Matt Crafton, comes to the track never having competed on it in a Truck. That alone should add an element of drama to the race this weekend.
Rockingham’s Historic Return
Rockingham Speedway, affectionately known as “The Rock,” has been a staple in NASCAR history, hosting races between 1965 to 2013. The Black’s Tire 200 on Friday will be the first Truck Series event at the track since Kyle Larson’s victory there back in 2013. This race is also the third and final event in the 2025 Triple Truck Challenge, which awards a $50,000 bonus to the winner.
Current Standings and Key Contenders
Corey Heim leads the points standings with 270 points, closely followed by Chandler Smith, 18 points back. Ty Majeski is 57 behind Heim in third, Tyler Ankrum (210 points) fourth, and Daniel Hemric (205 points) rounds out the top five in series points. Chevy currently leads the manufacturers standings with 223 points, followed by Toyota at 214 points and Ford at 208 points. A key contender this weekend will be Matt Crafton, simply because of his experience at the track. Sammy Smith is also shown on the entry list, and Sammy always puts on a great show in the trucks.
