Closing Battle Highlights Show-Me 100

Saturday night saw the 33rd running of the Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland Missouri. Threats of rain persisted through the evening, but the weather ultimately held off until sprinkles arrived during victory lane celebrations. In the end it was Bobby Pierce who beat the competition, and the rain, to capture his second Show-Me 100, and it’s $75k payday. The 2023 World of Outlaws Late Model champion started 8th in the feature but quickly made his way into the top five where he was a mainstay for the remainder of the event. The Smooth Operator was able to best the 49 of Jonathan Davenport in lap traffic and take the lead on lap 69 but would spend the remainder of the event trying to keep the Fast 49 behind him. Davenport, defending winner of the Show-Me 100, held on for a 2nd place finish after leading half of the event. Polesitter Hudson O’Neal, who picked up two wins and $20k to start the weekend, rounded out the podium with a 3rd place finish. Fellow Outlaw Champion Brandon Sheppard and current ROY leader Donald McIntosh rounded out the top ten.

Zooming out a bit, the championship battle remains close, with Ricky Thornton Jr. holding a narrow 15-point advantage over Jonathan Davenport. This battle promises to be exciting as the season rolls on.

The series will next be in action on June 13th and 14th at Smokey Mountain Speedway for the Mountain Moonshine Classic. You can watch that event, and the rest of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule on FloRacing.
