With Dodge Soon in Play, What Teams Should Move Manufacturers?

Dodge announced its return to the truck series for 2026. It adds a fourth manufacturer to NASCAR, and a rumored fifth manufacturer is also in play. It won’t be long before Dodge or a fifth manufacturer is in the Cup Series. Which NASCAR teams should move manufacturers?

For Dodge, the answer is easy. They have a relationship with Brad Keselowski, who drove for Penske Dodge from 2009 to 2013. Now a team owner, Keselowski has a chance to make his team a flagship for a new manufacturer. It would be a blow to Ford to lose three cars, but it’s perfect timing for RFK. Their only technical partner is Rick Ware Racing, which is in a lawsuit to sell its charter. RFK won’t be Ford’s flagship, at least while Rodger Penske is around. Dodge makes sense for a team on the rise.

Honda is my guess for the fifth team. They have a championship pedigree in many Motorsport series. It makes sense that they would want to move into NASCAR. Two teams stand out for a Honda move.

Trackhouse could be the flagship team, and Hyak Motorsports has a technical alliance. NASCAR has too many Chevrolet teams fighting for the number two position with the manufacturer. Trackhouse should leave Chevrolet to increase its position. Spire is catching them with Hendrick engines. Trackhouse averages one to two wins a year in their current position. With a new manufacturer, they could increase those numbers. For Hyak, it’s as easy as this: Would you rather be the sixth team at Chevy or the second team at Honda? The single-car team could greatly benefit from the move.
