Two Nights in Knoxville

This weekend, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Card paid a visit to Knoxville Raceway, affectionately known as the “Sprint Car Capital of the World”, for the Premiere Chevy Dealers Clash. Per the norm, the track put in quite a show for the near-capacity crowd.

Friday night saw the Gio Scelzi start from the pole and battle it out with Kerry Madsen and Rico Abreau in the early stages of the event. Ultimately, it would be David Gravel, in his Big Game Motorsports #2, who would claim the lead and win his series-leading 9th feature win of the season.

Saturday was just as competitive, with Brad Sweet duking it out with Corey Day and Ryan Timms for the top spot. Day would win that battle and fend off a hard-charging David Gravel on the final lap to win his first WOO feature of the year.

With a pair of top-two finishes, defending champion Gravel extends his points lead to 176 over Buddy Kofoid after 32 races. Gravel, Kofoid, and the rest of the Outlaws will next visit the Mount Rushmore State for four nights of Hustling on the High Banks of Huset’s Speedway beginning June 18th. If you can’t make it out to see the Greatest Show on Dirt in person, you can also catch it live on DirtVision.
