Logano and Verstappen Among Four Drivers Nominated for Best Driver at the ESPY’s

ESPN announced Thursday the nominees for their “Best Driver” ESPY award. Representation is spread across three of the world’s major motorsports: the Formula 1 World Championship, the NTT IndyCar Series, and NASCAR’s Cup Series.

ESPN will broadcast the 2025 ESPY Awards from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on July 16th at 8 pm ET with comedian Shane Gillis as the host. The drivers nominated are all defending Champions or outstanding performers from 2024.

From the Formula 1 World Championship, you have the 2024 Driver Champion and defending Award winner, Max Verstappen, who won the title for the fourth time in a row ’24, along with 9 of the season’s 24 races. Alongside Max will be Oscar Piastri, who helped bring McLaren back to the Constructors’ Championship in 2024 while winning two races, including his first Grand Prix at the Hungarian GP.

Defending NTT IndyCar Champion and 2025 Indy 500 winner Alex Palou is nominated as well. The Spaniard has won the NTT IndyCar Championship three years in a row, including 2024, where he won three races as well.

NASCAR’s Cup Series will be represented by the 2024 Cup Series Champion and leading brand ambassador to the sport, Joey Logano. Logano won four races in 2024, leading him to his 3rd NASCAR Cup Series Championship over his teammate at Phoenix.
