It is race #18 of the ARCA Menards Series and we take the high banks of Salem Speedway for Saturday, September 20th’s race! Last week at Bristol, Brent Crews held off 15-year-old Tristan McKee on an overtime restart to go from pole to the win, taking his 4th of the season. Isaac Kitzmiller officially became the ARCA East Champion over Tyler Reif and Zachary Tinkle with an 8th place finish, and Brendan “Butterbean” Queen extended his points lead over Lavar Scott to 50 points.
Salem is a nearly half-mile (0.555 mi) short track with 33° degrees of banking (in comparison, Bristol has 24-28 degrees of banking in the corners).
Last year at Salem, current XFINITY driver William Sawalich took home the win driving for Joe Gibbs Racing in the #18, while Andres Perez De Lara and Lavar Scott finished second and third, respectively.
Notable entries include Leland Honeyman, driving for Venturini Motorsports, Chase Howard, driving for Rise Motorsports, Chris Golden taking reins of the #03 for Alex Clubb’s Clubb Racing Incorporated, Will Kimmel makes his return in the #69 for Kimmel Racing, and Ryan Vargas makes his return to the ARCA Menards Series after his unfortunate engine issues @ Duquoin earlier in the season, driving for Maples Motorsports.
