The dust has settled at Martinsville Speedway, and after a nail-biting elimination race, the four drivers who will compete for the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship next weekend at Phoenix Raceway are officially locked in. The final race of the Round of 8, the Slim Jim 200, delivered on its promise of high-stakes, short-track drama, confirming a formidable, yet diverse, Championship 4 field.
The Martinsville victor, Corey Heim, secured his spot previously and enters the finale as the undisputed favorite. The TRICON Garage driver simply dominated the elimination round, taking two of the three race victories and shattering the single-season series record with his 11th win of 2025 at the “Paperclip.” Heim’s blend of sheer speed and consistency makes him the benchmark against which all others will be measured at Phoenix.
Joining him are three drivers who earned their title shot through grit, strategy, and a bit of luck in the chaos of Martinsville:
The Championship 4 Contenders
Corey Heim (No. 11 TRICON Garage Toyota): The Regular Season Champion and statistical leader is undoubtedly the biggest threat. With 11 wins this year, he’s proven he can succeed on every track type. His momentum is overwhelming, and the Championship 4 is his to lose.
Ty Majeski (No. 98 ThorSport Racing Ford): The defending series champion advanced on points with a solid seventh-place finish. Majeski has been relatively quiet compared to Heim, but his clutch performance at Martinsville proves his veteran composure under pressure. His experience in the winner-take-all format makes him extremely dangerous.
Tyler Ankrum (No. 18 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet): Ankrum punched his ticket with a ninth-place finish, also advancing on points. This marks a career-best season for the long-time Truck Series competitor. He showed great consistency in the Round of 8, focusing on clean runs to keep his title hopes alive. His inclusion showcases the reward for minimizing mistakes in the playoffs.
Kaden Honeycutt (No. 52 Halmar-Friesen Racing Toyota): The biggest story of the night. Honeycutt, filling in for the injured Stewart Friesen, secured the final spot by winning a tiebreaker over Layne Riggs with a critical runner-up finish. In a high-pressure situation, the young driver executed a masterful final restart and held on for the necessary points, highlighting a season of impressive substitute performances that culminated in a stunning Championship 4 berth.
The Martinsville Heartbreak
The intense battle for the final spots came at the expense of several worthy contenders. Layne Riggs missed the cut on a tiebreaker, his third-place finish tragically just shy of what he needed. His championship bid was severely hindered by a missed shift on a late restart, illustrating how one small mistake can cost everything.
Meanwhile, Rajah Caruth, a strong playoff contender, saw his hopes dashed after contact with Honeycutt led to a flat tire and a subsequent crash. Veterans Grant Enfinger and Daniel Hemric were also eliminated, their seasons ending early after a challenging Round of 8.
The stage is now set. Four trucks, four drivers, and just one race stand between them and the title. The 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion will be crowned at Phoenix Raceway next Friday night. Expect fireworks, because in this winner-take-all format, nothing less than perfection will suffice.
