Following this past Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway and the intentional wrecking of Jeb Burton’s No. 27 Chevrolet following the drop of the checkered flag, Sam Mayer is suspended. His suspension comes as the Xfinity Series heads to Phoenix for the Series Championship. Mayer, driver of the Haas Factory Team No. 41 Ford Mustang, and Jeb Burton traded blows under green at Martinsville, but following the last lap of the race, Mayer intentionally spun the 27 into the wall under yellow.
Sam Mayer violated Section 4.4 B of the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct, Behavioral. His suspension aligns with several others over the past few years, including Austin Hill’s earlier this season. Mayer’s replacement for Phoenix will be none other than Ryan Sieg, driver of the RSS Racing No. 39 Mustang.
Haas Factory Team responded to the suspension, stating that, although they are disappointed with the decision, they will not appeal the penalty.
