Austin Hill is an up-and-coming race car driver. The 19-year-old from Frankfurt, Ohio, has a full year ahead of him. He’s a college student at Ohio State University, a full-time race car driver, and a staple of his community.
“I grew up in Southern Ohio, not many people get to do what I do. It’s a blessing to be able to do it. I thank all of the supporters I have. I can’t thank my hometown enough for all they have done for me.” Hill said.
Hill’s career began at age 7 after watching his dad run sprint cars.
“I watched my dad race. Every kid wants to follow in their dad’s footsteps. I decided I wanted to race, too.” Hill said.
Hill ran quarter midgets and dirt go-karts. He won many races, but wanted more. The decision was made to move to asphalt. It was a great decision, resulting in 43 race wins, 13 championships, and a 75% win percentage.
From there, Hill moved to formula racing, sports cars, and eventually to the NASCAR O’Reilly Series.
“Along with sports cars, I’ll be driving for Joey Gase at Circuit of the Americas. I’ll also be driving for Cope Racing Family at Phoenix. We are hopeful for more if sponsorship can be found. I’m thankful for the opportunity they provided me.” Hill said.
Hill’s life is a busy one, but one he’s thankful for.
“I’m an engineering student at The Ohio State University. When not racing, I’m doing class work, staying in shape for racing, and running the simulator. 90% of my time is dedicated to racing. My goal isn’t necessarily a certain series, but to be a professional race car driver.” Hill said.
Being from a small town, fans are everything to Hill
“I love to build relationships with fans; fans are everything to us. Without them, there is no racing. If anyone is in Southern Ohio and wants to tour the shop or see the cars, all they have to do is reach out to us. We do autographed cards, shirts, etc. All fans have to do is reach out.” Hill said.
