Throwback Thursday: Three Years Ago Today, Kyle Busch Won for the Last Time

Three years ago today, June 4, 2023, Kyle Busch would win for the last time in his Cup Series career. Busch would outrun the field on a late race restart to win for the third time in 2023. The move to Richard Childress Racing proved to be fruitful for the most successful Toyota driver in history. A win at California, Talladega, and then Gateway would all come before the halfway point of the season. But little did we know that 2023 would become the 19th straight season with a win, but be his last.

Busch would dominate the afternoon, leading 121 of 243 laps, won Stage 1, and ran up in Stage 2. A combined 59 points for the day proved to be as close to a perfect performance as you can possibly be without perfection. Busch would take that signature bow for the first time with 3CHI Cannabis on the car and, sadly, for the last time of his career.

Busch would finish out the season 14th in the standings with 248 laps led. 3 victories. 10 top 5s. 17 Top 10s and a single Pole Award.
