Driver of the No. 55 Nitro Motorsports Toyota Camry, Isabella Robusto, is in her sophomore season here in the ARCA Menards Series, and she joined us in the media center here at Michigan International Speedway this morning.
I asked her about the teammates she leans on for support at a large track like Michigan, “I mean, really, we’re all pretty new to all of the tracks, it’s not like there’s a veteran over there. Unfortunately, I wish there was like a Justin Allgaier over there that you could lean on.”
She says that she looks to the Truck Series and mentions, “Corey Heim a bunch… Toyota works a lot with Trevor Bayne and Blake Cook; they’re kinda our driving coaches, per se. Monday through Thursday each week is our on-calls on sim with them, just working through racecraft and whatever I need to work on from the week before, and I feel like that’s been a big help for me this year.”
She would go on to talk about prep for their hot weekends in the race cars and how much of a help that truly is. Saying, “They have a very strict protocol on your training as well as our heat training. We have a room to go into that we do a specific workout for each of us that gets us ready for hot races like this.”
