IndyCar’s DC Race Gets Legend Filled IROC Support Race

The NTT Indy car series will hit the streets of Washington DC here in a couple of weeks. In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, the open wheel racing series will make its way around the national mall for the first time ever. What’s cooler than that? The newly announced support series for that race.

The IROC, spec car series will make its Street Course debut for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix weekend. And according to information dropped by the Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, there are some legendary names lined up to compete.

Legendary NASCAR champions such as Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Rusty Wallace, Bill Elliott, and Bobby Labontie. those legends will be joined by open wheel, legends such as Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchiti.

Each of these legends will compete in an authentic IROC Pontiac Firebird around the 1.7 mile street course downtown in our nations capital, Washington DC.

You can catch not only these racing legends in IROC, but the entire Freedom 250 Grand Prix weekend August 22-23.
