Carson Hocevar has proven to be a polarizing figure to a degree that the sport hasn’t seen in years, if not decades. On Saturday Night at Bristol, it boiled over.

Hocevar was battling Ryan Blaney for 2nd place with about 45 laps to go when Hocevar pulled a crossover to get to Blaney’s inside. Blaney proceeded to block Hocevar. The problem was that he wasn’t clear; it was very close, but he wasn’t clear, so he spun across the nose of the #77.

Blaney said after the fact, during his media scrum outside the infield care center, “Something is gonna happen…tonight.”

Blaney stood on business. Immediately following the conclusion of the race, ultimately won by Joey Logano, Blaney met Hocevar at his car with the alleged intention of having a conversation.

That went out the window almost instantly as Blaney went up to Hocevar and started shoving him. Hocevar retaliated with a clean right hook, and then another, knocking Blaney to the ground with the aid of a crew member accidentally tripping the 2023 Cup Series Champion.

To his credit, Blaney stood up and fought through the crowd to land a solid left hook of his own.

Blaney was then dragged away, but he had done what no one else had the gall to do…actually try to teach Carson Hocevar a lesson.

But ultimately it was Hocevar who prevailed in this one. The 23-year-old Michigan native made a point tonight. Anyone. Anytime. Anywhere. He’ll make your life a living hell on the track, and if you wanna talk, he’ll talk, and he’ll even fight if you want to take it that far, with zero hesitation.

He’s a brash, take-on-all-comers, overly aggressive 23-year-old with an “I don’t give a s**t” attitude and remains steadfast in his ways. Love him or hate him, he’s the future of the sport, and he’s something the sport is in desperate need of.
