SRX Series Returning to Slinger Speedway in 2024

The Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) is coming back to Slinger Speedway in 2024, much to the delight of the Wisconsin short track and its legions of fans. SRX announced on Tuesday that Slinger will host the series for a second time on July 25 as part of its six-race schedule next season.

“Every single year people have asked this time of year, are they coming, are they coming, are they coming?” said Slinger owner Todd Thelen. “Social media lights up with it, and then SRX goes, ‘Where do you want to go this year?!?’ and if there’s 500 comments, a hundred of them would be, ‘Come back to Slinger.’”

In 2021, a packed Slinger crowd watched SRX co-founder Tony Stewart battle local racer Luke Fenhaus and Indy 500 veteran Marco Andretti in an entertaining event won by Andretti. For 2024, SRX has shifted to Thursday night races on ESPN after previously running Saturday nights on CBS.

While the Wisconsin short track won’t have a local racer participation next season like Fenhaus, the caliber of racing icons in the series like Stewart, Helio Castroneves and Bobby Labonte will still attract crowds.

“I don’t want to take anything away from the Slinger Nationals but you add in (national TV), the characters, the names and it becomes this epic event people couldn’t get enough of,” Thelen said.

After providing a spectacular showcase event in 2021, Slinger Speedway has earned an encore performance with SRX in 2024. The quarter-mile short track expects more sellout crowds when big-time racing returns next summer.
