Last month, Stewart-Haas Racing put an end to the rumors that they would survive or fold at the end of the 2024 season. The two-time Cup Series Championship-winning team announced that they would end operations at the end of the season. For NASCAR fans and SHR faithful, it was a massive and somewhat unexpected blow. For others, the writing was on the wall. A new team, the new Haas Factory Team, will take its place.

Thursday afternoon, we learned that longtime team owner Gene Haas will remain an operational owner of the sport. “My commitment to motorsports hasn’t changed, just the scope of my involvement,” Haas said in a release. “Operating a four-car Cup Series team has become too arduous, but, at the same time, I still need a platform to promote Haas Automation and grow HaasTooling.com.
“Maintaining my presence in Cup allows Haas Automation to compete at NASCAR’s highest level, which is important to our customers and distributors. The Xfinity Series program provides a full weekend experience for our guests, and it delivers added depth and scale to our overall operation.”
The Future of the Haas Factory Team
It has become clear that starting in 2025, Haas Factory Team will field three teams in NASCAR. Two Xfinity Series teams will be fielded by the newly renamed Haas Factory Team next season, along with a single Cup Series entry.
Today that Gene Haas will retain a single charter from the current four owned by Gene and Tony Stewart. It is not known which team/number the team will retain. It is not known if either of the four SHR drivers will remain in their seats. The drivers in the SHR Cup Series stable consist of Noah Gragson, Chase Briscoe, Ryan Preece and Josh Berry.
As for the Xfinity teams that are currently occupied by Cole Custer and Riley Herbst. It is also unknown if the pair will stay in their rides or if the guard is to be changed. As more information is released in the coming weeks or days, we will be sure to make sure our readers are informed.
