Tuesday afternoon, Joe Gibbs Racing made Christopher Bell’s “leak” official. Chase Briscoe will take over the No. 19 Toyota Camry XSE from future Hall of Famer, Martin Truex Jr. for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Christopher Bell got a very special moment during the conference. Bell got to formally announce the “full name” of their next driver for the 19 car. Chase Briscoe made his way out adorned in Pass Pro Shops gear to take his place next to his new team owner Joe Gibbs and crew chief James Small.
Despite rumors of cutbacks. The Primary sponsor of the 19 will remain Bass Pro Shops, who has been a major supporter of Martin Truex Jr. since his Busch Series days.
Joe Gibbs stated “We have to win, Chase can win.” about Chase Briscoe when it came to who would fill the seat. He was looking for a certain kind of person, their character. Chase Briscoe stated that he has never been in a team that fully shared his values (referring to his faith and Christianity) and that he is thankful for that.
Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports asked about James Small remaining as the crew chief of the 19 car, mentioning that many times with a driver change comes a chief change. Gibbs pointed out the points standings and performance of the current 19 team not even entertaining the option to change Small.
Chase Briscoe stated that it only took 4 or 5 days to be signed by JGR. He began texting team presidents while he was at Stewart-Haas Racing during their announcement to their team concerning the closing of the team.
Chase thanked Christopher Bell and their friendship for all of his success in NASCAR. Briscoe even slept of Bell’s couch early on in Charlotte. Bell text Chase telling him that he did not believe that Martin Truex Jr. would return in 2025. Pushing him to “Blow these guys up.”
