The 11th season of the worlds premier electric racing series is now upon us. The ABB Formula E Series set its sights on Sao Paulo, Brazil this past Saturday with the new GEN 3 EVO race car. Neither the new car, nor the on track action disappointed.
Mitch Evans and Jaguar amazed the fans in attendance and at home with his incredible drive from last to first to win the 2024 Sao Paulo E-Prix and his 13th career victory. Last season’s runner-up couldn’t have started the season any better as he holds a 6 point lead over TAG Hauer Porsche’s Antonio da Costa. Evans made up 18 positions in just the first lap of the race and at the end of five lead changes, the New Zealander crossed the finish line first.
NEOM McLaren’s 20 year-old Taylor Barnard became the youngest podium finisher in Formula E history on Saturday while strategically using ATTACK MODE through the field. Barnard came just behind da Costa in P.3 for his first ever bronze in just his fourth career start in Formula E. Barnard’s previous best finish was eighth at the 2024 Berlin E-Prix racing for NEOM McLaren. His last of three starts in a row was Berlin in the 2023/2024 season where he showed improvement race-over-race.
