Red Bull is having a difficult time finding a driver capable of fielding its second seat. The team is looking at its fifth driver since Daniel Ricciardo. Verstappen has dominated every teammate he’s had, with Ricciardo being the closest to matching him. Red Bull needs a world-class driver to fill the second seat.
That’s where Kyle Larson comes in. He’s never been on the European circuit, but his skill level is close to Verstappen’s. He’s been a winner in every kind of vehicle he’s raced in. His dirt background helps with the sharpness of the Red Bull. Alex Albon said Max’s front is so sensitive that blowing on it would turn the wheel. I believe that Larson could quickly adapt to that kind of sensitivity.
Larson and Verstappen are both masters of tire management. Both drivers were in the fastest cars on the track late in each race last weekend. Neither driver is afraid to get the elbows out. They would be a great pairing.
The FIA can grant a waiver for a driver who doesn’t have the points for a super license. I believe they would for a driver like Larson. Red Bull should inquire about an FP1 session for Larson.
